Conclave 2024
I woke my 3 year old up laughing at that punchline, and there are many funny moments, not least of which is a scene stolen from a maurizio cattelan installation. The movie is unfortunately dumb, like a maurizio cattelan installation, with the story’s Aaron Sorkin-style unearned righteousness collapsing under the weight of its subject matter. (The Illuminati picking its next ruler should, I think, be treated more gravely than a small town mayoral election.) But it’s also very cozy, like an Aaron Sorkin screenplay, perfect to put on when you have the flu. Terrible, terrible poster design. Will probably watch again.

Can’t you just see a bunch of cops getting off on this movie? Never mind the cleanliness I mean whiteness of the suburbs, you know they just loooove how ~actually~ the rape victim was lying all along. How not only was she lying but she was ~actually~ a psychopath. How Amy’s mother, the college student, the newscaster, the neighbor, the woman who took that selfie, the motel thief, all these women were some combination of conniving, vindictive, or dumb. Cops love this shit. “Haha woman bad,” they mumble while agog at Ben Aflac’s dong. Fincher’s too talented to be making misogynistic cop porn. Fun movie tho.
