“The world does keep moving and it can be a damn cruel place, But for me those moments of stillness, that place, that's the Kingdom of God. And that place will never abandon you.”

    Bone chilling. Heartbreaking. Truly moving.

Sound of Metal is a touching depiction of a drummer who losses his hearing in the midst of his career possibly taking off. To take a musicians hearing is like taking a filmmakers eyes, a chefs taste. It’s devastating as…

Today I buried my grandma... I was inspired by this movie to write the below in honor of her.

I sit here writing this, preparing to begin a life on my own. Yet I’m asked to contemplate and acknowledge the end of life before my very own has begun. But when I begin to think about the end of life, I can’t help but be overcome with an appreciation of the now. Of the things that lie ahead of me…

    Black Bag

    ★★★★

We need more movies like Black Bag in the world! A smart, funny, charismatic, entertaining movie that never attempts to dazzle its viewers. Just pure mystery espionage with a handful of office scenes, a handful of dinner scenes, a handful of fishing scenes and a whole lot of Michael Fassbender  and Cate Blanchett killing their role!

  • Moana 2

    Moana 2

    ★★½

Moana 2 is as “eh” a movie can get. The story’s not nearly as strong as the first, and neither are its songs and message. Everything about this movie is just mediocre and immediately forgettable.
But apparently “meh” is all it takes to gross $1 billion.

    Civil War

    ★★★★½

Alex Garland’s Civil War appears to be stirring up quite the controversy, sporting endless news headlines and countless opinions across the world. But rather than the controversy being placed in what Civil War is about, it oddly appears to be what it’s not about?

I don’t see this film as divisive in the slightest (“war is bad” is about as safe of a general message as you can get). I see it much more as a *potential* misunderstood masterpiece. I…

    Dune: Part Two

    Gangster movies have the Godfather.
    War movies have Apocalypse Now.
Fantasy movies have Lord of the Rings.
And from now and forever, sci-fi movies will have Dune.

A movie that transcends its own genre to become something so much bigger than itself. A cultural and cinematic achievement that only happens at this high of a level once a decade, if you’re lucky. Dune: Part Two cements not only this film, but this franchise as such. A movie so special it can only be understood once experienced.
    I’m truly in awe
