  It's De Niro playing a De Niro Role and De Niro playing a De Niro role. At first I felt like having him play both parts was a gimmick that was kind of distracting, but once the characters develop into their own and they actually feel like separate characters I think it worked alright. I think De Niro did a decent job in both roles, but I really enjoyed his Vito character. This just meshed well with my personal likes and I'm a sucker for an interesting mob story.

  A pretty good time. This is definitely at its best when it fully leans into comedic elements. That being said, not every single joke landed for me, but I got a good handful of laughs watching this. Nothing really above and beyond that really stands out, but a pretty average film that I overall enjoyed watching.

  The first part of the film develops Mickey as an interesting, likeable character with a neat premise and sets itself up to be a fairly enjoyable film. From there it becomes a mess that it doesn't feel like knows it ever wants to be. The plot with the creepers goes off the rails and the film as a whole turns into an over the top, in your face political satire that isn't really that well or cleverly done. The ending…

  Very well made. Some cool shots and the pacing was just right to keep the tension, but not drag it out too much that it became uninteresting. A little bit too off the rails in the last third in my opinion, but still quite enjoyable.

Following
