A brilliant movie!  The concept of defending one’s indigenous language against the oppressors is extremely well-handled by a stellar Irish cast. Reminiscent of Trainspotting  in its impact on the screen and on our culture

In many ways a disappointing  presentation by Denis Villeneuve. The pace is deathly slow as if the desert conditions sap all the character’ energy. At times they seem to be sleepwalking through the “action””.  How does Timothy Chalumet fight so well in his duels with his hair flopping in his eyes.  The cinematography is excellent but the movie has neither the wit or humour of the Star Wars series.

Another tour de force for Gary Oldman and a definite Oscar nomination.
He is backed by a stellar cast in Mank with Amanda Seyfreid brilliantly portraying every gamin that Hollywood created for their early movies. The direction, writing and cinematography provide a feast for the eyes as early Hollywood unfolds before you. Is it a true story? Not anymore than Shelly Metcalf's political shorts or any other movie filmed in Hollywood.
    Not to be missed.

A spirited performance by a luminous Jessie Buckley who commands the screen throughout. Interesting to note that her mother is played by Julie Walters who produced similar style performances in her younger career.  The plot is rather hackneyed and stretches credibility at times but worth watching for Buckley.
