Devastating and beautiful, Never Let Me Go features some career standout performances for its 3 core cast, and is absolutely gorgeously shot. Not a single frame goes wasted, and the care given to framing characters meaningfully and the astounding landscapes it features is truly remarkable.

Perhaps the weakest feature is the inconsistency of the child actors in the first act, not that they don’t have their performance highlights however. They just unfortunately fall into similar pitfalls of films carried by…

This is excellent, the performances, the way it’s shot, the screenplay, the directing, all of it. It maybe is a bit predictable in places, however this is also a result of excellent set up and pay off in part. There is also some excellent surprises layered in though that continue to surprise and keep you on your toes. Immensely entertaining, surprisingly so, and often thrilling, this was not a film I expected to like as much as I did, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless.

First off this movie looks dreadful, and is colour graded woefully. It’s all greys and browns and these overblown whites and it really does nothing for the eyes. The story is ok at best, with some interesting themes not at all adequately explored in its narrative, but with two stand out performances from Gary Oldman, and Denzel Washington, in their usual top form. Despite A poorly paced plot, there’s some decent action and some good character moments sprinkled in, a…

An incredibly strong screenplay, with incredibly strong performances and some gorgeous camerawork, this really manages to capture the essence of human interaction through some very interesting means and perspectives. Very Linklater-esc, but still maintains its own identity outside of its influences.

I worked on this with an incredible team, and last night we had the privilege of being recognised through winning Best Regional Film at Coastal Surge film festival. It was such an insane experience and I am so insanely proud of everyone who was involved. I can’t wait for everyone to see this.
