when you have character's that can't communicate as seamlessly as the average set of people the plot begins to heavily rely on character building and more subtle forms of communication almost the opposite of a dialogue heavy film - while this was already very emotional film I couldn't help but hope for more long term vulnerability from Barfi, his father passes away and it's almost never touched on further than the plot point it was used as for the story…
