hmmmmm i was ready to love this movie and make my mom go see it so she can see and understand and empathize, but wow — half the movie was about a bland romantic relationship. there were so many moments in the family scenes that could have been unpacked So Much More (affirming dad, sister’s boyfriend breaking the ice for everyone, mom calling sam a brave boy, sweet sweet brother, etc.) but then it kept jumping back to the woman…
