It’s an Almodovar film, so obviously it’s going to be a feast for the eyes. The vibrant coloured interiors are such a staple of his films, but they look gorgeous here even in the 1980s. Antonio Banderas is gorgeous too, with his metal framed glasses and curly quiff.

A satiating snack of a thriller, The 39 Steps thrusts you into the action from the off, and doesn’t let up throughout its entire hour and twenty minute runtime. Wild to think this film was made 90 years ago and is as exciting as anything made today.

Rewatched in memory of the Big Man himself.

I got the DVD of Mulholland Drive for a birthday when I was a teenager (maybe around 2003/2004?) and it blew my mind. It was the first thing by David Lynch I’d seen, and I instantly fell in love with his work.

I later bought the Twin Peaks boxset and it solidified my obsession.

As much as I love so many of Lynch’s film, Mulholland Drive will always be special to me.…
