    When a Stranger Calls

How i wish we could stay locked in noughties film evolution, they're just so watchable. This take on the home invasion classic really delivers and quite frankly, if you're not checking your locks at home, you will now! That one heightened phone call from the police evokes all the anxiety you need, but please remove all contorted silhouetted ornaments from your house immediately.

    28 Weeks Later

    ★★★★

One of the best and most realistic zombie-like depictions that will ever grace our screens. The opening scene really is one of the most anxiety inducing scenes I've experienced and to this day, I still get such a visceral reaction. Unlike most zombie movies, this one isn't that farfetched as it paints an arguably very real representation of a zombie outbreak (Capital city location, fast moving infected, and an incompetent military containment taskforce).

For me, this is a shark film that always triggers my anxiety of being in deep open water. Somewhat typical plot that can be forseen as well as many encounters with the shark, but the realism of being in the situation is enough to create a real life scare

    The Boogeyman

    ★★★

Predictable plot which is very typical of a jumpscare horror of this calibre. However, the jumpscares still deliver a scare to have your heart racing and keep you engaged. The story of the boogeyman felt rushed, but the visual elements and use of 'darkness' throughout was very good at raising the fear factor of the boogeyman.
