A depressed man’s funeral procession. A teenagers sexual awakening. We’ve seen it all to no end. However, Aftersun saves itself from its trite description with its unique setting, sharp visuals, acute acting, and haunting melancholic devices. My favorite was the parasailers: floating alone, connected to the world by a mere string, ready to break off at any moment and be lost for good.
