Rango 2011

Yet another movie from my childhood that I revisited and liked more than before. In an industry dominated by fluffy and cute animated animal films, rango stands out with its grotesque and realistic animation, made only more impressive by the year it was released. Not only is it visually stunning, it tells a beautiful story about finding yourself, putting on masks, and even a critique of capitalism

I think the story ends a little unrealistically and has become a bit out of date, but ultimately is a charming story about appreciating those you love and a celebration of the soul of food and cooking. Plus, the Cubanos looked really good.

Maybe the nostalgia I get when I watch this masterpiece makes me biased, or the fact that I would suck the skin from Wes Anderson’s Welsh penis, but this is one of the most visually stunning, creative, and just all around perfect films I’ve ever seen.
