For something so silly and outlandish, this is one of the realest films ever made. I laughed, I cried, I apologized to my mother. 

Watching this movie feels like the time I visited la Sagrada Familia basilica. Astonished to exist in a time and space in which to behold its splendor and beyond grateful that its creator had the vision, the perseverance, and the generosity to share it with us all.

Nothing matters. Everything matters. But Stephanie Hsu deserved that Oscar.

Benji and David experience such relatable pain throughout this film while also perfectly illustrating that we can never truly understand the pain of others, especially those we love. Despite this, David’s discovery that even those he admires can be in an agony he can’t truly comprehend makes this an “emotional intelligence coming of age story”. 

“To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning within the suffering.”
