Apparently not a very popular take, but I feel Superman II makes definite improvements from and stands above the first film. Once again, Reve and Hackman have great moments. Hackman in particular has better material to work with and has his own performance greatly enhanced by the omission of Otis and Teschmacher.

Ronald Reagan, one of the most iconic and charismatic presidents of the modern era was not without his issues and complexities. Unfortunately, this movie does virtually nothing to explore what made Reagan interesting and tries to convince the viewer that the Gipper single-handedly won the Cold War. All the while, we see a greatest hits real of Reagan one-liners and well-worn stories.
