I watched this movie at the behest of a Key Lighting Tech. I had asked for tips on lighting and cinematography as those are my two weakest areas as a film student. He recommended I watch this not as an audience member but as a professional in the film industry. I was floored as both. The steadicam work on the beach was absolutely incredible and the way the main cast members rotate in and out of the shot was inspired.…

This was a very cute and clever film. I wasn’t fond of Enola speaking to the camera but that was just personal preference. It was very female positive without it seeming like it was made specifically for women. I wanted to strangle Mycroft but felt the juxtaposition between his views and the way Enola was brought up added to the story in a major way. It was more light hearted than I expected but I felt that was good compared to all the other nitty gritty Sherlock Holmes adaptations I’ve seen.
