I watched this movie at the behest of a Key Lighting Tech. I had asked for tips on lighting and cinematography as those are my two weakest areas as a film student. He recommended I watch this not as an audience member but as a professional in the film industry. I was floored as both. This was a very cute and clever film. I wasn’t fond of Enola speaking to the camera but that was just personal preference. It was very female positive without it seeming like it was made specifically for women. I wanted to strangle Mycroft but felt the juxtaposition between his views and the way Enola was brought up added to the story in a major way. It was more light hearted than I expected but I felt that was good compared to all the other nitty gritty Sherlock Holmes adaptations I’ve seen.
