Dune: Part Two 2024
This epic Sci Fi masterpiece had all the pieces of a hero story. Paul Atreides aimed to be the leader that is pictured in the prophecies. The foreshadowing of this in the first movie left me primed for the second. I love that the story wrestles with the weight of Paul going to lead the southern people. He knows that this new mantle will cost him dearly. The twist of Paul being the son of the Barron satiated my mental tasted…

The Monuments Men 2014
I’ve finally found a movie that proves you can’t just take every niche story in WW2 and make it into a full length motion picture. This had potential but it felt like I was reading a Wikipedia article instead of being engaged in a WW2 drama. George Clooney directs himself as a 1940s preacher and his message is nothing beyond conventional wisdom.
It had all the ingredients to be a good film but just wasn’t.

More Wes than Wes knows that do with. I am throughly in love with the awkward interactions in Fantastic Mr Fox and Grand Budapest however these jokes don’t land and don’t build to develop the characters. Sometimes the characters aren't even sure if what they are doing. Maybe they are just as lost as the rest of us! If you wanna go watch Wes make out with his own cryptic non traditional story telling, this is the perfect movie.
