The Iron Claw 2023
One of the most heart breaking movies I have seen in recent memory, maybe ever. Incredibly beautiful film with so many striking and visually memorable scenes in the Texas countryside and wrestling arenas. The film on the surface being about wrestling and fighting and almost an entirely male family. It was surprisingly tender, touching and compassionate.
Incredible performances from everyone involved. Special mention to Zac Efron for undoubtedly the best performance of his career, being the vessel for the audience…

Saltbutn got a lot of things right, stunning visuals that had a real strong feeling of nostalgia and wistfulness which paired perfectly with the films setting and characters. Very strong character performances across the board, special mentions for rosamund pike and Carey mulligan!! I loved the way the film subverted my expectations where I felt the Catton family had some weird cult-like estate (saltburn) getting fresh meat in each year and unknown things happen to the newcomers!!
