A fantastic film about the normalized brutality and subhuman treatment of African Americans during slavery. It shows the practice as a whole new level of dehumanization from one that you might learn about in school because of the stark contrast from Solomons life as a free man.

This movie requires you to take some time after and think about it. It kept hinting at massive moments just for the biggest moment of all to be the “journey”: as much of a cliche as that is.
