I rewatched this just because I read the book and I think I finally understood the proposal, it's not a complex film but there is a message behind the plot that I think not everyone can grasp immediately (in my case) reading the book made me finally understand Elio, something that I didn't when I watched it the first time. It's a great film when you understand it honestly without all the stereotypes that surround it.
