Ending came out of no where. Definitely worth the watch. Is it full of American propaganda? Yes. Is it a well told story of a skilled man doing a very arguably wrong thing? Also yes.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The Boy and the Heron didn't impact me the same way other Hayao Miyazaki films have. While watching, I had the same critiques that Hayao had of Goro's Tales From Earthsea. I felt there was a really great world building foundation, but I was disappointed with the execution. Still, it had plenty thought provoking moments, as other Studio Ghibli films. I really enjoyed the building blocks idea, but overall I didn't feel like there was a clear drive or motivation throughout the characters.
