Anora 2024
Sean Baker proves once again that he is one of the most equipped writers/directors to craft a cinematic character study, particularly for complex women characters. He doesn’t rely on tragic flashbacks or lazy exposition to build Anora. We watch her purely through present-scene action and voice. It’s a terrifically-paced, hilarious film with one of the most heartbreaking final scenes I’ve seen since, well, The Florida Project.
