    This is kind of a “nothing” film. 

    I couldn’t quite figure out what to be invested in, what was really happening or what was just going on in Arthur’s head, especially after the themes of the previous film — which were oh so excellently portrayed. 

    This sequel didn’t need to happen. Lady Gaga didn’t get the character depth that she deserved. The songs were either out of place or kinda awkward, which was a fun gimmick if only it didn’t…

    Oh my god, what is there to say. 

    What a phenomenal commentary on womanhood, motherhood, aging, the fame and beauty industry. Anyone who identifies femme at all has something poetic and meaningful to grasp onto with this film. 

    And to bundle all of that powerful messaging in a body-horror gorey Cronenberg-esque monstrosity — I wanted to look away, but I knew every bone-crunching, organ-flopping, bloody mess of a moment had meaning and purpose behind it.
