There's a lot to like about this film, but the cinematography is really what stood out the most. It's done so thoroughly, and multiple shots were more than just impressive. Furthermore, Emil Johnsen does a really great job, and is generally impressive throughout.

Considering everything, this is a pretty good adaptation of the book, Kalak (2007), even though the amazing writing style of the book is (obviously) lost.

Quite an entertaining film, mostly due to the very well written story. The reason I'm not exactly yearning to give this more than 3½ stars is the fact that it's honestly not much more than a story. There's not much depth to anything we don't absolutely need in order to understand the story. This leaves the characters interesting, but rather shallow, as they unfortunately end up as plot devices.

Englebørn (2024) is a Danish Indie horror that absolutely blew my socks off. Agnes Born delivers a performance on such a high level that it must certainly kickstart a great career of lead roles. The soundtrack as well is phenomenal, mixing modern with classic horror, just as the entire film does so sublimely. Furthermore the cinematography is simply next level. So many shots had me in awe, especially with how they're edited together.

The fact that no studio wanted to finance this is insane to me, and it's really just another example of why independent filmmaking is so important.
