Every 5 minutes: white man jumpscare. It is truly so insane how many people are in this movie. It’s very good and I wish I saw it in theatres. Multiple timelines are confusing but interesting. Cillian deserved the  Oscar

I’ll start with the good: Zoe Saldana gives a great performance. There are some really beautiful colors, especially in that final scene. There’s some touching and beautiful ideas about acceptance, particularly when Rita is talking to the doctor about changing the soul to change society.

Ridiculously gorgeous film. The first act made me ache with how beautiful each shot was and the people in it. Incredibly moving story that avoids getting either too saccharine or preachy. Unfortunately feeling all too relevant today. Brazilians are probably the most beautiful people ever and I want that house soooo bad.  Wonderful tight script and unforgettable performance from Fernanda Torres.

Went to an 8pm showing of this and didn’t realize until the intermission that this is a THREE AND A HALF HOUR MOVIE. That’s a whole lot of movie. Many moments of this are utterly spectacular. The cinematography and score are exceptional. Performance from Adrian Brody is an all-timer but I still don’t know if this earns its 3.5 hour run time. The film has a lot to say about America, men, power, God, and money but I don’t know that it packs the punch at the end that I wanted.
