What’s to love
The already spectacular use of silence in these installments is brilliantly magnified by having New York City as the place to introduce Day One.
As in other iconic movies, New York is its own character. The vibrant city goes from 90 dB to 0 shortly after the creatures take over and humans deplete their offensive resources, leaving a seemingly deserted and defeated city behind in the first act.

What’s to love:
Although this is no Interstellar or Dunkirk, having an outstanding sound design team, a very talented composer, and a cutting-edge IMAX format in black and white create an attractive audiovisual experience, which is what the works of Christopher Nolan focus on. Unfortunately, most of the eye-catching visuals were shown in the trailer.

While the last two movies were just okay and didn’t bring too much to the table in terms of themes and iconic scenes, I was surprised to enjoy a movie that wasn’t just overuse of CGI and brainless action.
