  i was ATTACKED the first time i posted this but i STILL STAND by my original comments------ this was disappointing... Stephen Schwartz wrote a masterpiece and mr chu tiktokified it. because i'm so serious who choreographed this? and so many details have that netflix fantasy -set condition where objects look like they were just pulled out of an amazon package. 9 million dollar tulip budget and not one real up-close flower?! okay.

  so much texture and symbolic cue!!! the objects and situations aren't explicated but instead allow space for clashing feelings to arise in the individual viewer. the tension is so well done and the shots are gorgeous and precise... kinda floored by this film.! the broader arch being a commentary on patriarchy and the objectification of women is hard to miss, but so much is happening simultaneously to that which feels less accessible. something about childhood, repression, religion, jealousy, and all while being pretty funny and absurd (was dedicated to Buñuel after all)

  just so poetic, very well done, endlessly rewatchable 132 minutes
