I don’t know if I’ve ever felt more uncomfortable in a movie theater🫠

In universe, there is a giant. This made sense as a hallucination or metaphor, but it became real? I didn’t like it, the film bros reached too far for me. Also, domestic abuse?
Kristen Stewart is this movie’s saving grace do not lie.
Sydney Sweeney is beautiful. She is not funny. That is ok, but it is an essential trait for her character. Furthermore, the plot was just as unrealistic as the two main character’s chemistry. This was basically the entire movie (at least what I sat through). I can’t wrap my head around how this got released to theaters.
Fell asleep 45 minutes in, got a summary for the rest of it, would not recommend.
I was not expecting to like this as much as I did🧍♀️
Had to deduct points for the overtly homophobic, racist, and rapey plot points. The movie is entertaining as a whole, but it has some definite issues.
Discomforting times in a mental hospital. Imagine a movie trying to be “perks of being a wallflower pt 2: the depression returns”
Very entertaining movie. Here’s my compliment sandwich.
The elephant in the room: There are countries just as invested in space as America🤫. It felt nonsensical (but very convenient to the plot) when China and Russia miserably failed to launch something into space that might prevent a catastrophic event (and they don’t try again?).
Props to Ariana Grande’s character for having her own in universe name, Riley Bina. (the bar is on the ground, but I can’t handle any more celebrities…
I love this movie. It’s campy. It’s aesthetic. Maybe it’s a little rough around the edges, but so is my favorite T-shirt.
Side note: Around 1/3 of lobotomies ended up “helping” patients (or at least not negatively affecting them), so the stakes felt a bit off.
This is the most Debbie Ryan acting I have witnessed on Netflix
