I think the runtime overall hurt this movie the most. The visuals are very interesting and you absolutely can understand the message behind the story; however, the weight of that message is somewhat diminished by the limited ability to develop the 2 characters. I don't think 58 minutes was enough to get the full emotional punch on the film's climax. This film will undoubtedly hit many people VERY hard, so the lack of personal experience regarding this kind of dynamic doesn't allow for a higher score. A very visual expierence that shows more than tells: for better and for worse.

This is an incredibly difficult film to watch. It's even harder to watch knowing that many girls in this similar situation didn't receive the "happy" ending that Sam does here. It's a incredibly well done piece on profound and yet simple reasons to not be silent when facing injustice. I appreciate that the film doesn't give us a "triumphant" good ending. It's much more nuanced because the ending is truly a tragedy despite the "good" outcome. Absolutely gut wrenching to watch but a encouraging message to hold onto.
