Reservoir Dogs 1992
While this film feels like a completely stripped down version of a Tarantino style film, I think people are overlooking the genius that it takes to pull this off.
Sure, if you gave an artist a million colors to choose from, they could create a lovely painting that is vibrant and tells a story. But true mastery, is working with black and white only and using shadows and lighting to invoke the same emotions without the luxury of a complex color palette.
I believe this film is misunderstood as a color painting, when it is actually black and white.
