The Monkey 2025
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The most fun I’ve had at a movie in a long time, dating back to John Wick Chapter Four. Theo James’ dual role rocks, as campy as it is; and there’s a hopeful star turn for Colin O’Brien playing the hell out of an angsty teen. Side note: (re: performances) Adam Scott could’ve done Rick Dalton and the Fourteen Fists of McCluskey better justice- especially when it’s the opening scene.

Baz Luhrmann is a criminal. I loved this movie so much it inspired me to jot down why my late father would loathe it:
My father didn’t like Elvis, so neither did I. Not even the numerous amounts of conversation that my weathered, pot-smoking, rock n roll relatives had listening to Elvis could outweigh Dad’s opinion. My Dad would say the same thing about Luhrmann’s films, as they are far too stylized and grounded in pop music for the palette…
