Bloated, unnecessary long, why are we listening to that prince guy’s song for like 15 minutes?

She dances in silence and everyone thinks it’s lame, but Ariana joins in and now suddenly it’s ok? Please.

    Still, a kid’s movie.

TC is pretty annoying at times.

Such a mid music biopic. I prefered listening to James amangold talking about film for 2 hours than watching this. It’s unnecessary, but above all it betrays ehat makes Dylan “Dylanesque”.

There’s no poetry here, just “this happened, then this happened, and so on and so on”.

This isn’t my job. I mean writing Letterboxd reciews isn’t my job. So I feel that I can say this: THIS WAS SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER THAN THE SUBSTANCE.
The Substance is plastic. This is a fine steak with Dostoevsky’s The Double thrown in for good measure. Genuinely made me feel anxious about body dismorphia and pure jealousy about other people and it approaches those themes so openly.

There’s a reason that this movie is still talked about. It’s a borderline perfect narrative about a man who is so fundamentally scarred by his childhood that he has become the worst person in the world. The story is about him crawling out of that cruel mind space.
There are a few details that aren’t so palatable for an audience today but I think it’s part of the charm. The important emotional beats hit really hard even if you’re resisting it, which I totally was dur to my own personal connection with the subject.
