The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023
It’s hard to tell this story in the format of a film, a part of me wishes it had been adapted into a series to get across the nuances of the books. A lot is left out here and the pacing suffers because of it.

The overarching metaphor of Barbieland as the perspective of girlhood which then gets shattered when Barbie enters the world is clever. Barbieland and the way it changes after Ken introduces ‘patriarchy’ can be viewed as the perspective switch in a hypothetical girl’s mind of what being a woman is- either mediated through a male or female cultural myth and expectation.
