it was way too long, it was compelling at parts but some stuff was gratuitous and definitely could have been changed. A lot of the scenes felt expository to me, but, for a 3.5 hour movie the plot does move along smoothly.

The Color of Money does a top notch job of encapsulating what it means to compete and uses the game of 9-ball as a mirror to caution against forgetting one’s roots and the subsequent effect that can have on a person, for better or for worse. Both Eddie and Vincent have amazing character arcs, and while Carmen gets lost in the shuffle a bit during the third act her character is incredibly strong for the first 80% of the film.
