i am here today because i am gay and have been seeing a surge of negative takes online recently, specifically regarding the age gap between elio and oliver. i’ve found a lot of the takes from people both for and against the movie to be pretty un-nuanced and lacking in any historical or societal context so i just thought i would write down a couple of words about my musings on the matter.

started this series rewatch believing halloween is the worst overall golden age slasher franchise. ended this series rewatch CERTAIN that halloween is the worst overall golden age slasher franchise. michael myers just isn’t (and doesn’t have the capacity to be) interesting enough to squeeze anything more than one great movie and one fine sequel out of.

yikes! i remember liking this one a lot! wants what scream has SO desperately it’s actually quite embarrassing. a solid opening scene with nothing hugely of interest for the remainder of the runtime. eye holes on michael’s mask so wide he may as well not have worn one.

this movie uses jennifer aniston’s character to show that in order to be happy in life you have to have money but it uses the other three women to show that even rich people have crappy lives so i guess we should all just, like......... die????

also i was so shocked to see that this came out in 2006 because it felt very 1998 in a bad way.
