Rubber's Lover 1996
Slightly more conventional and followable than Shozin Fukui's prior film, 964 Pinnochio, but no less filled to the brim with insanely inspired imagery you won't find anywhere else. I'm at more of a loss as to what the actual meaning of any of this was, but goddamn was that rubber suit one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a film.
Watch this with or in close proximity to 964 Pinnochio if you get a chance. Shozin Fukui is a mad genius.

I hesitate to give this a 5 star rating before watching it a second time, but that first watch was REALLY strong. This is a bizarre, mind melting film filled to the brim with screaming, 5+ minutes of uninterupted vomiting, and otherwise nasty imagery. Not for the faint of heart, but if you can stomach what it's putting down, I think it's actually a really fascinating interpretation of what happens to obsolete technology when we abandon it.
I might come back and expand on my thoughts some after a rewatch and giving it further thought. Highly recommended to the sickos either way

This is my favorite film of all time. I watched this and it changed my life forever. After I finished watching this movie, I layed down in my bed and cried. It changed me. It…
