Mickey 17 2025
Genuinely think it’s hilarious that Bong joon-Ho followed up his Oscar winning Parasite with this. There are shades of all of Bong’s English films here, it’s goofy and stylish in all the best ways, but also messy and a little too broad in its satirical comedy. The third act felt inspired by Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind which I enjoyed. A little too long and some plot lines felt like they could’ve used some more time to develop.…

Minority Report 2002
Great sci-fi concept that I extrapolateds on the post 9/11 surveillance state we find ourselves in, but wow did I hate how this looked visually.

Cha Cha Real Smooth 2022
This movie kind of annoyed me. Whole thing felt like a wish fulfillment fantasy to me where no one acted like a real human being. Cooper Raiff writing, directing, and starring as the lead in a movie about a young quirky man that was so sweet and caring constantly just rubbed me the wrong way. Way too saccharine and sappy for my liking. I can see why others really like this (maybe I’m too cynical of a person) and although there were parts I enjoyed, I couldn’t help but be turned off by what felt like a self insert “nice guy” main character.

The Eiger Sanction 1975
A weird adaptation of a spy spoof novel that’s played completely straight. Some extremely problematic elements that would not fly today leading to some truly bizarre humor. There are a couple absurd elements that made it interesting like “Dragon” who was an albino ex-nazi that needs blood transfusions and is always shown bathed in red lights. The rest was painfully boring to me as this didn’t know whether it wanted to be a spy movie or climbing movie. Didn’t feel any tension at all by the third act I was just waiting for it to end.
