I wanted to love this film but there wasn’t enough substance, it felt repetitive and heavy handed throughout. There were some poignant moments however; Jamie Lee Curtis’ agonising solo dance and the moments of sisterhood backstage.

I was more interested in the installation than the isolated film and how this enhanced the blurring of truth and fiction in the work. Getting the viewer to interact with this tired, grey ‘welcoming!’ environment was powerful, particularly when considering the conversation between mother and daughter about alienation.

A touching meditation on grief.
The old world in conflict with the new as its relics are disrupted and stolen away in plastic. Synthetic materials litter sacred resting places. Arthur taking from the dead, just as the dead has taken from him.
I was touched by his hesitance to get closer to Italia. Their shared language through gestures and that silent walk to the beach from the party together was gorgeous.
Final scene had me in tears.
