I enjoyed this movie a lot. I actually did not like the music choices very much but I think that might have been the point. It’s a beautiful film about trust and vulnerability. I was left with a feeling of being unsatisfied but again that was the point. Ani is a powerful character that you can’t help but fall in love with. Also the connection to Russia was an interesting choice, I really appreciated them speaking Russian.

What a great summation of a woman facing death and tragedy. Jackie was beautiful and dark. This film captured grief and vulnerability in a really nice way. I wonder how much is dramatized and how she would have probably hated a film like this. The music was curated well. While it may have just followed her throughout most of the film, I did not get bored with learning about how her thoughts worked and the desire she had to manipulate image.

I did not know anything about her but I love learning about classical musicians as a classical musician. She is complicated but always seems to be a good person. Orin is someone who seems to be unable to realize her ability to be a miracle but in an almost stubborn way. This was a great short doc and I am glad it won awards.

I wasn’t a huge fan. Comedies can be hit or miss for me and this was sadly a miss. I was really excited to see Kiki Palmer and Sza in a film together and their dynamic was great. I just couldn’t care less about the plot they chose. It was a little too dumb funny for me. I think that some of the shots were really beautiful and interesting but overall the film was lack luster for me.
