alex garland knows how to make the harrowing accessible, as was seen in civil war, and now warfare. the simple yet beautifully detailed shots of everyday objects - homes, people, etc - splice together into a grotesque narrative depicting the impacts of war on the "ordinary": it could be you, your neighborhood, a family member - there is no discrimination besides luck, chance, and the privilege of where you’re born. the sound mixing was phenomenal, the performances strong, and the story compelling.
not perfect - but does a great job at making the audience question why the cost of war is even worth it.
