tarvosky has approached sci-fi with a restraint so rarely seen in the genre. and in lieu of spaceships or lasers tarvosky has chosen to interject contemplations of human nature and spirituality. the film itself is sparse in soundtrack and design, and the anomalous physics bending properties of the "zone" are by most accounts implied; leaving much to the imagination of the viewer and allowing the brain to work.

dejected queer teenagers wander on and off frame, backdropped by decrepit LA; spliced by intermittent scenes of profound introspection and gay porn. there is a certain aesthetic that breeds from the depravity, as the characters seek so desperately for meaning and connection. its an honest kind of beauty.
- purity is not of this world but every 25 years or so there is a glimmer, a flash.
