i’m so confused on why this film is so critically acclaimed and rated high 😭
the film’s attempts of highlighting feminist/social issues (such as bodily autonomy, grooming, sexuality, ownership, misogyny) are very subtle (if at all, since they barely existed). These issues were also taken from an insanely privileged lens (i.e. Emma playing a straight, white, cis, able-bodied woman) and every other character (specifically POC characters) in the story were simply there to help “awaken” her. rewatched this recently and after seeing poor things i’m now wondering if all of mark ruffalo’s characters have a thing for infantilized women…….??
that being said, soundtrack is a BANGER and this is a comfort watch for sure.
i do fast forward over her kind of hitting on a 13 year old though bc yikes!!! (it makes sense plot wise bc she is thirteen in her mind but it’s still ~~~weird as fuq~~~)

this was a fun one! it was advertised as horror but i’d say it was more of a comedy thriller. it had a good plot, great acting and was a super enjoyable date night movie.
