Brewster McCloud 1970
Wildly idiosyncratic Altman flick that feels like a small miracle that it even exists, which I give it credit for alone. It feels like a fuck around with the truckloads of cash MGM unloaded after the success of MASH, like a director seeing what he could get away with.
It doesn’t always work, and the whole picture feels kept at arms length from the viewer, stubbornly challenging you with wild tonal shifts. The bird shit metaphor is stretched to the breaking point.
I love Altman and I love all of his children, maybe not equally, but I’m damn glad this exists.

Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish) 2020
Painful on every level. There’s nothing worse than going back and watching Pandemic era zoom comedy. It’s so earnest and cringey. Maybe when more time passes they’ll have more fascination attached to them, but it’s too recent.

Monsieur Hulot's Holiday 1953
i think my favorite part of Hulot films is how every incidental character acts like a living Sim.
