La Chimera 2023
Had to think about this one for a few days before reviewing. In terms of cinema, it was near perfection. Gorgeously filmed and stylistically dazzling and engaging. Really felt like a movie movie if you know what I mean. Some parts of the plot felt a little hollowed out - kind of like those tombs amirite - and I ultimately did hope for a little more redemption in the end, but it was wonderful regardless, and I’ll likely recommend it to a bunch of people.

Rye Lane 2023
When I was a kid, we’d play a game in the rear-facing seats of my mom’s Volvo station wagon called “who stole the computer” (our school had our one boxy computer stolen at the time). You’d wave to the driver behind you and if they waved back, they were good, and if they didn’t…well, you know.
All that to say the people who wave / don’t wave at boats barometer resonated with me.
This movie was the perfect blend…
