The Iron Claw 2023
When a high school prom king and hot chef and friends come into a wrestling ring to duke it out you might think - that’s worth the watch enough. However, you leave the film feeling stunned at the sheer amount of grief and parental relationship strife that actually makes this much heavier of a piece than what you expected. In the end, you are left wondering what was the point at all, maybe it’s just to experience that open ended and should-be-obvious-but-actually -just-confusing knot that is grief itself.

Eighth Grade 2018
Cringe humor has an art- how you can induce the look away but can’t look away simultaneously. Nostalgia isn’t always about remembering the rosy parts of the past and this movie has a say in that. Also, human interactions are awkward and cinema doesn’t always acknowledge this. That being said, while this film is special, I still can’t eek out more than 3.5 stars because that would be way too cringe
