Small Change 1976
A 3.5 out of 5 goes to the casual nature of the film that stayed in my mind long after. I'd be up for a rewatch knowing what to expect going in, and appreciated it's breezy, verite style...
But...
A 20 out of 5 goes to the toddler that caused the most tense 3 minutes in Movie Night history (3? It felt like an eternity)... Unnerving isn't even the word... Holy shit... like... HOLY SHIT...
He came to get down. He came to get down. Now get on that ledge and jump around.

Election 1999
Happy to revisit this, as my memory of watching it at 17 was only that it was okay. I now realize I just didn't understand Alexander Payne yet nor the difference between morals and ethics. Reese Witherspoon is excellent, EGOT winner Chris Klein is excellent, the janitor is excellent... I now have to pick up the Criterion blu-ray, or maybe I'll decide on an orange instead.

Magnolia 1999
While dodging all it’s meditations on forgiveness, Magnolia had me pondering Julianne Moore’s sex appeal more than any frog falling from the sky. In P.T. Barnum’s previous film, Boogie Nights, Moore portrayed an adult film star that achieved little to no reaction from my dick. Yet somehow, as a suicidal, narcissistic, drug-addicted gold digger, I found myself pining for Julianne Moore in a way that I hadn’t since Chris Columbus’ semenal masterpiece 9 Months. In summation, dreams can come true.
