I watched this with a rag tag clan of friends in our local independent LGBTQ+ cinema so it felt very meta. Shout-out to the Arzner, may you live longer than the Kino before you.
Moments in the film to highlight:
1. Andrew Scott's heartbroken "nadolig llawen"
2. The rousing Welsh women's song
3. Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton buttering bread together
Overall, I thought the story was a helpful reminder of the importance of community. Did it lack nuance sometimes? Is it a bit fluffy in its portrayal of homophobia? Did I give it 4 stars? Yes yes and yes.
I particularly enjoyed the argument at the supermarket and the rant about babies with pockets.
10/10 no notes. Very charming and painfully relatable. Miss you Pop.
