not a film critic, but i like watching films.
consider me sentimental.
astonishing shots, especially in the mountains.
The lead's weaknesses in acting were a bit evident in scenes here and there. Some conversations between the characters, who were supposed to be business people, are similar to that of high schoolers talking about a mining activity in their Earth Science subject. (I mean, do you expect supposed experts to just doubtfully blurting out costs and estimates, choosing between a mining method and another. Understandable that it should be 'casual' and conversational but…
Knowing that the cast are literally people I've interacted with (YES. WE COME FROM THE SAME PROVINCE.), I expected the movie to be wacky, when I learned about it.
Literally, it is wacky. Humiliating, embarrassing, cringe-worthy, at times. But for the most part, it's nostalgic. Direk Glenn's creativity in the use of highlighters captured my sentimental moments from high school-- like I'm just reviewing this movie for a requirement in class. I get to remember, for the most part, the ones I highlight and the black-and-whites in between complement them efficiently.
Cheers to the character-matching colors for the characters and the Ybanag/Cagayan slang in the script!
