The Brutalist 2024
Hugely disappointing. The only epic thing about this film is its length. Upside down shot of the Statue of Liberty presented as symbolism. Racism? Check. Drug addiction? Check (Marcel Breuer on whom the movie is clearly based on had no such problem. I assume the director added this for enhanced drama). We expect Erszebet to arrive during the first half of the movie. She arrives in the second half, but her place within the plot is vague. This movie takes itself too seriously, is clearly angling for an Oscar, yet was entirely forgottable to me the moment credits started rolling. 2 stars for the cinematography.
