  when i was 19 and playing in a mediocre metalcore band i tried valiantly to get a song named "first brooklyn savings", if that gives you any idea how deep this movie had its hooks in me.

  is this a good trans film? no, not really. arguments like "better than most" or "progressive for its day" don't really hold water, especially when you dig deeper into the production history and real life events.

  what this movie is though, is human…
