Super sad. You'll notice I didn't leave a like on the movie, and that's because it made me feel like shit but didn't motivate me to actually do anything about it. I've been very lonely for a long time, with basically only family to keep me sane, and the awkward failed attempts at friendliness and subsequent empty, worthless feeling portrayed by this film in the first chapter alone spoke to me quite deeply.

I was laughing the entire time, and the celebrity cameo was actually perfect, but it was a slight letdown overall as an A24 parody/love letter to this era of comedies. It likes to do all of the tropes of the genre/era, but a lot of the times it did this could easily have been a little more emphasized for effect, or commented on somewhat. Some lines of dialogue sounded like they wanted to cram a genre trope in to finish a checklist.

I'm a huge fan of most of the games and this was genuinely such a giant waste of potential. Shitty choices all around. If you turn your brain off it's probably more entertaining than sitting in an empty room doing nothing but that's about all it has going for it. Fuck Eli Roth.
