Such a brilliant story, the static shot taking doesn't take anything away only adds to it. The film gets the feel of an amazingly made Indie film.
So many unsaid emotions, the superb acting and, the simple humanistic framing. While from a viewer's perspective, I love the emotions, the courtroom suspnse, the anticipation to know more; from a filmmaking perspective there's so much to look at. The framing of Daniel trying to look at things and the penultimate shot of him comforting his mother. The lapse in time is never felt, yet the distance in between them increases, only to make their bond exponentially stronger in a single tight frame.
So beautifully done retro work of art! The screenplay is amazing and we're almost at the edge figuring out the next minute. The ending leaves a lot more to be desired, but one could argue that it ended at a lovely point as well.
You see influence of so many filmmakers, especially Hitchcock and Orson Welles, generously mixed with Indian retro.
